John Rapp was born and raised in the Brooklyn / Queens area of New York and moved to California in 1970 and continues to live there. He began his career in sales, working for 15 years with Warner Lambert & Lever Bros. managing sales and marketing teams for both companies.
In 1985, he was recruited by Showtime Networks as a Director for the West Coast and advanced to General Manager and Vice President during his career. Responsibilities included studio relationships, event negotiations and planning, contract negotiations with major MVPD’s, Pay per view marketing and sales, and was instrumental in developing the new premium service FLIX to compete with Starz / Encore.
Since 2003, John has been a consultant with Eclipse Marketing Services, helping them work with Hollywood Studios, all programmers (HBO, Showtime, Turner, Hallmark, EWTN & others), Sky Angel, and Caesars Entertainment. He closed the deal for Eclipse to become the marketing agency for DirecTV promoting Hollywood movies within the On-Demand window. This was and still is Eclipse’s largest account during their 25 years of doing business.
Currently John is also a consultant with Friendship Films, Ltd., a US / NZ based motion picture and Television production entity with several projects in development as well as the upcoming release of the first official CN / UK / NZ tripartite feature film production “Into The Rainbow”. Filmed in 3D at Qingdao, China and Auckland, NZ it stars Willow Shields of “The Hunger Games” franchise fame.
